The following musical selections are offered to help you plan your wedding music at St. Ignatius Church. These music selections have been chosen with care and are in the repertoire of our musicians. Special requests to obtain or learn music not on this list is subject to approval and may result in an additional stipend to musicians involved. All music requests must be sacred or classical in nature and not associated with secular or pop culture.
The pieces in this guide can be adapted for only piano or organ, which is standard, or you may choose to add an instrument, such as cello, harp, trumpet or violin. If you add an additional musician we will provide an appropriate arrangement.
All musical selections listed in this document work together to create a beautiful liturgy. After you submit your choices, the Director of Liturgy & Music will reach out to confirm your selections and clarify anything that remains to be decided. Requests outside of these lists can be made, but need to be approved from parish liturgy staff prior to making the selection. It is recommended that you look at the form and then come back and listen to music on this page, before completing and submitting the form.
The musicians begin playing/singing prelude music 10-15 minutes before your wedding is scheduled to begin. As your guests are arriving, music helps to establish a festive and sacred tone. You may choose 1-3 pieces here or let our staff choose music based on your other selections.
The most common procession contains family members and the bridal party, including the groom and involves a change of music for the procession of the bride with her parents (or father). This entire procession can be accompanied by one instrumental piece. Like the Prelude Music most of the pieces listed on these pages may be performed as a prelude (again, the only exceptions are the Psalms and the Mass Settings). Any of the pieces listed in the Prelude Music section above may be performed as Processions of Bridal Attendants, the Formal Seating of Family, or the Bride’s Procession. Choose 3 pieces.
