This Saturday will be our monthly St. Ignatius Parish Bike Ride. As is our tradition, we'll meet at 9:30 behind St. Ignatius Church, roll down through Golden Gate Park and along Ocean Beach to Sloat Blvd, then meander back up together. Participants should be comfortable with an intermediate level ride of about 12 miles round trip including moderate sustained hill-climbing on the return. Your bike should be in good working order. See you out there! We generaly ridde on the first Saturday of the month. New cyclists are welcome!

Join us Sunday, November 2, at 5 pm at St. Ignatius Church for an evening to honor the places of sorrow in our lives, and to remember our loved ones who have passed away. Livestream of the liturgy will be available on YouTube. Submit names of your beloved faithful departed for inclusion in our Requiem Mass Program. The deadline for names submission is October 26.

Volunteer! The St. Ignatius Shelter Meal Program fosters community, lifts souls, and nourishes the bodies and spirits of homeless people and volunteers. A shared meal is one of the most fundamental forms of human interaction, and a fine meal, carefully prepared, is an act of love. We create a temporary oasis from the harsh realities of life on the street. In an environment of warmth, hospitality, compassion, and fun, people relax, regain strength, and renew their self-respect and purpose.

A Benefit for Nuevo Sol Day Laborer and Domestic Worker Center Sunday, November 9, 2 pm at St. Ignatius Church Come to hear the preaching of Fr. Greg Boyle SJ, founder and director of Homeboy Industries and author of the New York Times best seller, Tattoos on the Heart, and enjoy a special performance featuring the music of Jesse Manibusan. This will be an afternoon of inspirational faith sharing. The event is a fundraiser for a local organization Nuevo Sol: Day Labor and Domestic Worker Center. Nuevo Sol's nerwork provides safe and regular work for day-laborers in the city of San Francisco. Come soak in the Word of God and support Nuevo Sol in creating a better world for the most marginalized workers in our city!

Households who have recently registered as parishioners are invited join us for an informal welcome reception on Sunday, November 9th, right after our 5pm Mass, in the carpeted area at the back of the church. You'll have a chance to meet our pastor, Fr. Greg, connect with other new parishioners, and learn a few easy ways to get involved in parish life. Come volunteer for an hour on Sunday after 10 am Mass to help local families in need celebrate Thanksgiving! If you sign up you will have an option to donate $50 to sponsor a basket and there is a further opportunity (for one person) to deliver the baskets later that day.

The Anti-Racism Committee will be offering an 11 week dialogue series on race, grounded in faith starting in January 2026. It’s called Sacred Ground and it’s free! Come to this information session to learn about Sacred Ground, an amazing opportunity to grow your faith while nourishing the beloved community. Bring a friend! If you are enrolled in the Children's Faith Formation program, please join for playtime and a snack and on USF Welch Field after Mass and then class at 11:30 am. First Communion Year One meets in the Blue Room in the church. First Communion Year Two meets in the Good Shepherd in the church. CFF (grades 3-6) meet in Cowell Hall on the 4th floor.

This will be a day to write cards and letters to parish shut-ins, vets at the VA, and residents of Hayes Convalescent Hospital, Buena Vista Manor House. Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors (OWLS) is a thriving ministry as seniors (50+) gather to enjoy each other’s company and participate in a variety of activities that reflect the interests of senior members of our parish. The group meets once a month, on the second Friday of the month.

The Shelter Meal Program at St. Ignatius Parish is having its annual Thanksgiving Pie Drive on Sunday, November 23. This year our partner is again Bay View Senior Services. With your support, we’ll provide 125 homemade or purchased sweet potato pies to Bay View Senior Services, providing approximately 1000 desserts for low-income older adults and adults with disabilities on Thanksgiving Day.

We will hold our annual Crafts Sale on Sunday, November 23, in the morning. These two events, this one and our main fundraising event, the Online Silent Auction, are a key aspect of the mission of Las Vecinas. Because of the generous participation of St. Ignatius parishioners in both events in the fall of 2024, we were able to fund the following projects at our sister parish in 2025.
