First Holy Communion

 First Communion & First Reconciliation

We’re so excited to walk with your family as your child prepares to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time and encounter Him in the healing sacrament of Reconciliation!

Who is the program for?

Our First Communion preparation is for baptized children in Grades 1 and 2. 

It is a two-year journey of growing in faith, learning about the Mass, and developing a personal relationship with Jesus.

Program Overview

Year 1: Growing in Faith

Children are introduced to the basics of our Catholic faith—learning about God’s love, prayer, and the life of Jesus.

Year 2: Preparing for the Sacraments

Children continue their faith journey with a focus on the sacraments of:

• First Reconciliation (Confession)

• First Holy Communion

Sunday Schedule

• Mass: Families attend the 10 am Mass together

• Playtime: Children meet after Mass on the USF Lawn next to the church.

• Class Time:  Children meet after playtime (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) in the Good Shepherd classroom (1st Comm Y2) and the Blue Room (1st Comm Y1)

• Weekly Attendance is expected

Parent Involvement

Parents play a vital role in preparing their children to receive the sacraments. We ask families to:

• Attend Mass weekly

• Support their child’s prayer life at home

• Participate in scheduled parent meetings

• Consider volunteering with the program

What if my child is older or not baptized?

We’re happy to work with families individually. Please reach out if:

• Your child is older than 2nd grade

• Your child is not yet baptized
