Advent Giving Tree

Would you like to leave a Christmas present for a child in need under a Christmas tree but aren’t sure how to do it? This holiday season, show God that you care for those in need by bringing a gift card or present to the Advent Giving Tree, a lay-led program at Saint Ignatius Parish in San Francisco.

Every holiday season, St. Ignatius Parish generously supports children, teens, adults, and seniors in need through the Advent Giving Tree. The event runs from mid-November - to mid-December.

The Parish coordinates with local nonprofits, schools, and senior care programs to provide gifts to those especially in need at the Christmas season. Through the generosity of St. Ignatius parishioners, Advent Giving Tree annually distributes over 500 gifts through partnerships with a dozen nonprofits, schools and senior care programs in San Francisco.

How it works:

Beginning in mid-November, an Advent tree with colored tags will be located near the Parker Avenue doors. Choose a tag, purchase the gift or gift card requested (often Albertson’s or Target gift cards of $25 or $50) and return it to the basket at the Mary altar or to the Parish offices no later than following the 10 am Mass in mid-December. This ensures the gifts are delivered by Christmas.  Every family is encouraged to take one to make this a family project during Advent!
