Help support St. Ignatius Parish's Giving Tree Project and bring holiday cheer to children, teens, adults and seniors in need in San Francisco. Simply take a tag (or more!) from the Giving Tree near the Parker Street entrance. Help us reach 100% fulfillment and return your gift by December 14 so that the gifts can be distributed to our participants. Please return your gift-tag with a gift card firmly attached in the basket by the Mary Altar at the front left of the main altar. Simply attach the gift tag to the gift, no box or additional wrapping is required! After church hours you can bring your gift to the Parish office or put it in the mail slot.
Please join the OWLS for the annual Christmas luncheon and entertainment by the "Songbirds," a favorite of the OWLS. The festivities begin at 11:30 in the Maraschi room. This year the lunch will be catered (voluntary donation of $20-$30 to help defray the expense). Desserts are pot luck so bring your sweet tooth as well as a dessert if you so desire. We look forward to celebrating the Christmas season with you.
This Saturday will be our monthly St. Ignatius Parish Bike Ride. As is our tradition, we'll meet at 9:30 behind St. Ignatius Church, roll down through Golden Gate Park and along Ocean Beach to Sloat Blvd, then meander back up together. Participants should be comfortable with an intermediate level ride of about 12 miles round trip including moderate sustained hill-climbing on the return. Your bike should be in good working order. See you out there! We generaly ridde on the first Saturday of the month. New cyclists are welcome!

Project description
Artist and parishioner Alexandru Salceanu will share his long-term collaborative video project entitled Witness. This project involves refugee/immigrant communities to create autobiographical video portraits. Through an intentional methodology, participants tell their own story in the language of their choice, are involved throughout the creative process, and have agency over composition, audio narrative, and edits. The goal of “Witness” is to create a publicly-accessible visual and oral archive of immigrant experiences that’s shared with the public through immersive exhibits, public projections, and its website.
About the artist
Alexandru Salceanu is a Romanian-American interdisciplinary artist. Born in Communist Romania and emigrating in 1992, his work concentrates on reconciling his cultural identity with his assimilation into American life. This life altering move has driven him to explore many layered historical and aesthetic references. How does one understand the dissonance of political and economic theory compared to the intimacy of lived experience? This is where his exploration and his creative focus lives: Alexandru layers historical events, aesthetic references, and personal accounts together by using a variety of media—photography, video, projection mapping, painting, and mixed media. As social practice, he works in and with communities to make collaborative artwork that facilitates autobiographical storytelling.
Through his work, he utilizes art’s transformative power to humanize issues, challenge perspectives and encourage a more personal encounter. He investigate the quiet characteristics of resilience and dignity, power and joy present within pervasive cycles of struggle and the ways people overcome them.

Volunteer! The St. Ignatius Shelter Meal Program fosters community, lifts souls, and nourishes the bodies and spirits of homeless people and volunteers. A shared meal is one of the most fundamental forms of human interaction, and a fine meal, carefully prepared, is an act of love. We create a temporary oasis from the harsh realities of life on the street. In an environment of warmth, hospitality, compassion, and fun, people relax, regain strength, and renew their self-respect and purpose.

Join our Director of Advancement after our 10am Sunday Mass for a tour of our historic church building - if you're a new parishioner, this is a great way to know our worship space and our community.
The season of Advent calls us to celebrate the gift of Divine Presence in all creation. It invites us to see our lives as holy ground, and the sacred place where we meet God. During this presentation, Colette Lafia, a parishioner of St. Ignatius, will read from her new book, Leaving the Shore: Experiencing Poetry as Prayer. We will be invited to reflect on the poetry of our lives, the beautiful nature of human experience—where every moment, no matter how ordinary, can be part of the Divine unfolding of creation.
Chris White returns to St. Ignatius for this special Adult Faith Formation Lecture! Christopher White, associate director for strategic initiatives and senior fellow of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown University, will share with us his perspective in this lecture on Pope Leo XIV: Inside the Conclave and the Dawn of a New Papacy. The presentation, in Xavier Auditorium in Fromm Hall, will be followed by Q&A and discussion, and the event will also be recorded for later viewing. Questions? Contact Barb Kennedy.
If you are enrolled in the Children's Faith Formation program, please join for playtime and a snack and on USF Welch Field after Mass and then class at 11:30 am. First Communion Year One meets in the Blue Room in the church. First Communion Year Two meets in the Good Shepherd in the church. CFF (grades 3-6) meet in Cowell Hall on the 4th floor.
December 15 to 23, all are invited to join as a spiritual offering in preparation for celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus. This December we will celebrate the Novena of Simbáng Gabí with our neighboring parishes.
