What a game! Fr. Jerry suggested we all pray a few rosaries before heading out—and it worked. Baseball, like sports in general, can feel like an act of faith: we show up, we hope, and we trust that something good will unfold. This past Sunday, that faith was rewarded with sunshine, great pitching, timely hitting, and even a once-in-a-decade catch.
Leading up to this outing, it had season such as would bring my grandfather to say “[imagine a choice Spanish language bad word here] Gigantes!” But miracle upon miracle, the team gave us a banner day. Thanks to your prayers, presence, and support, our families and youth enjoyed a joyful afternoon together. Like the Warriors once reminded us, sometimes we just have to believe! Some of our youngest members were especially blessed—they got to see their very first game, meet Lou Seal, and even run the bases afterwards. To top it off, they were treated to a win! It was truly a great St. Ignatius day.
A heartfelt thanks to all 44 participants who made it out, and a special word of gratitude to Anna for bringing her disabled family member—who not only had excellent seats but got to enjoy an even better game. We will continue to make sure accessible seating is available for those who need it. As Tony Bennett sang, we truly left our hearts at the ballpark. May we carry that same joy, community, and faith into the weeks ahead. Thank you, parish family, for making this possible.
With gratitude and blessings,
Tom Fregoso, Youth Ministry Coordinator
