We have various volunteer opportunities for anyone who would enjoy helping a neighbor in need. Recently, a volunteer reported on her visits with residents at an extended care facility. One resident in particular, “was a very cheerful, sociable patient with whom [the volunteer] had a lovely time talking about her interests, such as reading books, painting her nails and many others. The afternoon went well and time passed very quickly.” The volunteer will continue to make phone calls from time to time and visit once in a while.
During the month of May, Neighbor2Neighbor volunteers provided rides to six people and prepared five meals for families. Several volunteers made four visits and three phone calls to the home-bound and responded to miscellaneous requests from four others. Parishioners brought the Holy Eucharist to three other parishioners unable to attend Mass in person. If you would like to join these helpful neighbors, the Neighbor2Neighbor ministry is the place for you!
Or, if you are home-bound and would like someone to bring you the Blessed Sacrament, if you would appreciate a phone call or visit from a neighborly parishioner, or if you know someone who would welcome this sort of helping hand, please let us know. Similarly if you or anyone you know is recovering from illness or surgery, or is caring for a newborn and would be delighted to receive nutritious, home-cooked meals, contact Neighbor2Neighbor. We’re here to help!
