Hello St. Ignatius parishioners,
This year’s delegation from Parroquia San Antonio will include their pastor, Father Mario Díaz, as well as Irma Vargas and Paty Lazo, two of the initial founders of Las Vecinas back in 2001. They will join us for the 10 am Mass on Sunday, November 16, and at Hospitality afterwards.
We won’t have a pancake breakfast this year, but we’ll be asking parishioners to bring extra treats that day. We will also have a brief presentation and Q&A about the history and impact of our joint ministry with Parroquia San Antonio and what is currently happening in El Salvador and in their parish at 11:30 that morning.
Our main fundraising event, the Online Silent Auction, will be held from Saturday, November 15, to Tuesday, November 25. We will hold our annual Crafts Sale on Sunday morning, November 23.
These two events are a key aspect of the mission of Las Vecinas. Because of the generous participation of St. Ignatius parishioners in both events in the fall of 2024, we were able to fund the following projects at our sister parish in 2025:
Scholarships for 25 deserving students in elementary school, high school, and college. Each annual scholarship of $360 helps students pay for their tuition and textbooks.
Instructor salaries and materials for skills training programs in bread-baking and related bakery skills, tailoring/dressmaking, arts and crafts/event decoration, and English.
Our food distribution program, which serves the elderly, homebound, and other at-risk populations. Equipment and supplies for the parish health clinic.
Thank you for all you do to support this vital ministry.
Amy Stewart, coordinator of Las Vecinas
