This summer we had a chance to ask a few Litugical Ministers a couple questions: How did you come to be a Liturgical Minister? Why it is important to you, and/or where have you experienced God's grace in your ministry?
Grace Salceanu | Lector:
I've been blessed to have been a part of many rich, small faith-sharing communities around the world. Hearing people break open the Word with their own distinct voices inspires new perspectives in me. It moves me to remember that God is always speaking.
E.J. and Terry Potente | Greeters, Usher:
It's a small but useful contribution to the parish and consistent with a sense of community. People need to be recognized when they enter the church building, receive answers to any questions they may have and be treated as friends and neighbors. This is an element of Christian hospitality. - E.J. Potente
Paula Warren | Greeter, Lector:
After Lowell High School, I went to Santa Clara University, graduated in Marketing, and worked at Microsoft as a writer. I came back to San Francisco to reside near my dear father and, due to a conversion experience, began volunteering at Saint Ignatius Parish in May 2019 as a volunteer receptionist, weekend greeter, and as of January 2025, a lector. I'm also a member of Discerning Deacons!
Kevin Finn | Eucharistic Minister:
I love being part of the Mass celebration! I think it started when I was an Altar Server during my grade school years. It brings me closer to God and our amazing community!
Tina Caratan | Eucharistic Minister:
I attended SCU for undergrad and then 40 years later I attended USF for grad school. I had been an active member of a parish closer to my home but due to some personal reasons, I started to attend Mass at SI after my Saturday classes. I rarely join things to just be a cog in a wheel. It seemed logical to sign up to be an Eucharistic Minister. That and the fact that Fr. Greg flatly told me I had to!
