This year’s 8th grade girls’ basketball team didn’t just compete—they triumphed. After an unforgettable championship season defined by grit, teamwork, and heart, it was clear they deserved a celebration as bold as their accomplishments. Last year’s teams had the exciting opportunity to play during the California Classic—a summer showcase featuring recent NBA draft picks. But this year, we wanted to do something different—something that truly recognized the girls’ incredible run and reflected what they had achieved together.
So we took them to the big stage: a WNBA Valkyries game.
Ten players and their families joined us for an unforgettable night. They were welcomed into pre-game warmups, treated to premium seats, and got to cheer on some of the best athletes in the world from just a few rows away. But one moment stole the show—when one of our own was crowned “Fan of the Game.”
It turns out that when you get ten middle school champions jumping, dancing and screaming at the top of their lungs, it’s hard not to take notice. The energy was electric. Cameras panned to their section more than once, capturing the chain reaction of joy as they egged each other on—one girl after another trying to outdo the last with bigger moves, louder cheers, and the kind of pure, unfiltered excitement that only comes from being part of something special. That kind of spirit couldn’t be ignored—and before long, the arena spotlight landed on one of our own. The recognition was a blast, but the real prize was the memory. The girls got to see how their energy, support for one another, and love for the game can light up a whole arena—just as it had lit up the season.
The Valkyries didn’t disappoint either. They played fast, fierce, and full of heart—modeling everything we hope our girls carry with them into high school and beyond. And in perfect harmony with the night’s spirit, they pulled off a thrilling win—sending our young athletes home with wide eyes, full hearts, and dreams a little bigger than before. We couldn’t be more proud of this group and what they’ve accomplished. Special thanks to Stephen W. and Mike D. for helping make the evening such a memorable finale to a championship season.
This wasn’t just a reward—it was a reminder: they belong on courts like this. And their journey is just beginning.
